Where It All Started

My creative story belongs to the incredible women who raised me. Growing up, I spent my childhood tucked away in a world of color—drawing, painting, and needlepointing alongside my grandmothers. Those quiet creative moments were my sanctuary from the everyday pressures of school and sports, instilling in me a deep love for fine craftsmanship and the beauty of handmade things.

• My Paternal Grandma: A business owner who gave me my very first job at her antique shop on Martha’s Vineyard. She was the first to sell my handmade jewelry and art, teaching me what it means to run a business with heart. She instilled a strong commitment to giving back—a tradition we continue today by donating 10% of every sale of my products in her shop directly to Camp Casco to support childhood cancer survivors and their families.

• My Maternal Grandma: A lifelong needlepointer who poured care into every single canvas. Seeing her work displayed—and sold in my other grandma’s Martha’s Vineyard store—sparked my initial love for needlepoint, thread, and fiber arts.

• My Mom: A dedicated teacher of 20+ years and now a school counselor, she showed me how to show up for others every single day. Her example inspires MFeareyDesigns to proudly serve as a 2026 Silver Sponsor for Camp Casco.

The Journey Back to Art

After stepping away to focus on college and playing field hockey, I felt a strong pull back to my artistic roots in 2020. I began exploring new mediums, teaching myself digital illustration, and rediscovering my love for fine arts. What started as a personal outlet quickly evolved into a full-scale return to drawing, painting, and needlepoint.

My business has taken many creative turns, but needlepoint is the anchor that brings all my passions into one space:

• Inspiration & Photography: Canvas concepts often begin with travel and photography—a lifelong hobby I share with my dad.

• Sketching & Digital Design: I turn photographs into initial sketches, then into crisp canvas layouts using digital techniques my dad taught me.

• Fine Arts & Hand Painting:Every canvas is designed and finished with care, whether hand-painted or printed, returning to the fundamentals of color theory and fine art. 

• A Tactile Connection: I spent years designing jewelry because I loved working with my hands. Needlepoint offers that same tactile joy—there’s nothing quite like the feel of rich threads pulled through woven canvas. (And yes, I still sell my handmade jewelry at my grandma's Martha's Vineyard shop!)

• Entrepreneurship & Events: After falling in love with entrepreneurship in college, building MFeareyDesigns online allows me to run the creative brand of my dreams while hosting Stitch & Sip socials brings our stitching community together in person.
